Christine Brown, Newquay RNLI Events
Manager writes:
"Despite the drizzly weather event proved to
be one of the most popular in recent years and crowds flocked down to the
harbour to view the lifeboats in action. Newquay’s own lifeboats were joined
once again by the Padstow lifeboat and the ocean-going coastguard tug,
Anglian Princess.
In addition to the drama at sea visitors were
entertained by a host of stalls, together with demonstrations from the RNLI
beach lifeguards, Koda the Newfoundland rescue dog and the Cornwall Tae kwon
do students.
Musical entertainment came from the Kernow
Pipe & Drum Band and the St.Dennis Silver Band.
It has gone very well, although it is too
early to calculate how much money was raised, everyone seemed to be enjoying
the day and it was great to see so many families and familiar faces down at
the harbour. I would like to thank everyone who worked so hard to make the
day such a success and our friends and visitors who came in their droves to
support our lifeboats and their volunteer crew."
